Robert Campbell

Robert Campbell portrait

I joined the club in 2009.

Photographic Experience:
I have had an interest in photography since my mid teens, mainly through my primary interests of natural history and sketching/painting.

Like many of my generation, I became involved in B&W photography and processing and then some colour processing.

I spent some years as a shooter for Maltfern Studio doing weddings etc.
I switched to digital photography cautiously but reasonably quickly by 2002.

Main subject interests:
I am primarily a photographer because of my interest in nature, so anything in the natural world.

I'm becoming more interested in historical and rural architecture, thanks to a couple of trips to the UK and Europe. Good landscapes always attract me.

I have a difficulty developing any interest in contemporary architecture, garden plants and domesticated animals and birds.

Photo Gear:
I have owned many cameras over the years, starting as many in the club did, with a Kodak box camera.

Most enjoyable film cameras have been my Nikonos, my two Olympus OM's and my Miranda SLR which I really liked for its interchangeable pentaprism.

Since going digital, I've worked through a dozen units, with four of those still in regular use.

Now my primary cameras are Canon EOS DSLRs and a Lumix TZ7.

I do my work on a Windows PC with PaintShop Pro, printing on a Canon iX4000.
