Roy Killen

Photography experience:
I started off with a Brownie box camera at about 10 years old. I bought my first 35mm camera in 1965, my first SLR in about 1978 (a Pentax "spotmatic"), my first digital camera in 1998 and my first digital SLR in 2002. Since retiring I have a lot more time to experiment and learn.

Main photographic interests:
All forms of wildlife (from ants to elephants), grandchildren, macro and almost any other subject.

Main photographic achievements in 2009:

First place in the "people" category in the Western Districts National.

Highest points score in the Western Districts National.

Highest points score in the Australian Digital Photographic Awards.

Merit certificate in the APS National

Merit cetificate in the Australian Interstate Photography Competition.

Main photographic achievements in 2010:

Second place in the "open colour" category in the Newcastle National.

Third place in the "nature" category in the Newcastle National.

Three prints i the "Top 100" in the Maitland International.

Favourite photographic equipment: Nikon

Computer equipment: Macintosh and Photoshop

Joined the Club: 2006

Current position in Club: Chairman. I am also Vice-President of the NSW Federation of Camera Clubs.

Photographic books I have found useful: "Within the Frame" by David duChemin; "Visual Poetry" by Chris Orwig.
